…collateral material

That’s what we called the glossy brochures, postcards, notes and any printed material back in my marketing days.

A big shout out to the sweet & oh-so-talented Cindy Moore for designing my logo & banners, etc. Yes, I know I need to iron these. Ollie is trying to help as he always does.

A shirt my DH will proudly wear Saturday :)

Stickers to go on the amazing CC Oatmeal Cookies from the kitchen of my dear friend Mama Heather Sanne. Just a little give away for people stopping by.

Here’s one of six of the Pamela Dining Chairs w/ burlap finishing late last night. Yawn.

See you in the sun!

…it’s a family affair.

In our nest, everything seems to be a family affair. Even setting up & testing out Mommy’s tent for the Luckett’s Spring Market!

Kids always love a good box, don’t they?!

My sweet & supportive DH helped me pull out pieces so I could take inventory of what I am bringing…and what can fit in a 10×10 space. eek! Next year I’m getting more space.

He even took inventory pix of all my vintage finds. We are plugging them into the ipad to make check out easier with my fancy Square (Okay, it’s not that fancy, but does mean I can take credit cards).

…i think i love you.

Outside of ASCP (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint), my real-life, favorite color is this very blue. I’m not sure it’s found in nature, but not sure that I care.

Before she was blue. She lived a lonely, brown life.

She’s so much happier this way, don’t you think? Perfect example of why some hardware just begs to be painted!

More love for Provence Blues…

…Daily Candy!!!!!!

I need to repost after reading my Daily Candy email update this morning entitled, “Feeling Luckett’s Tonight”. I was so excited to see that they mentioned Luckett’s that it wasn’t until I started getting a few emails from friends that they mentioned BLUE EGG BROWN NEST!!!!

“Say hello to DIY royalty, Christen Bensten of Blue Egg Brown Nest. He hawks reconditioned furniture in the Field of Gold section.
”

(Yes, I see that they put a “he” instead of a “she”, but I don’t really care at this point.)

Thank you, Daily Candy!

…paris grey secretary

I love the idea of an antique secretary. I can imagine it in a living room just looking pretty without having to be used.

I’m pretty fond of her and I debate whether I want to sell her. If it weren’t for the Swedish Grandfather clock I just invested in, I would put her in the living room.

(Pix via Veranda)

I leave all the insides of my pieces in their original wood color because I love seeing the contrast. I think it’s especially charming in this piece.

…Favorite Things Friday – Wisteria’s Colorful Wooden Trays

There really is something to be said for a pop of color in a room. Take a good look at your space. Is it light & airy? Cozy & soft? Fresh & bright?

How about the color that you love and want to highlight in a few accents around the room – in your pillows, books, bowls, accessories? This is a great, bold way to do it.

…purists beware

I even hesitate to post this because I have a slight case of painter’s remorse. But, eye on the prize. I wanted a large wardrobe in my bedroom for the TV and finding a handsome one is hard to come by.

It was over my budget, but worth it, I’d say.

I know, I know. It’s beautiful as is and how dare I touch it with a paint brush!

But, there comes a time when you say to yourself, “Self, would I use this piece in its natural state?” The answer was no. My DH even tried to get me to sell it and the answer was no.

Now that it is in my bedroom in a neutral that will match the state of mind I’m trying to create in there (calm), I am deeply in love & devoted to her.

I looked at a few shops to find the piece that I wanted in the size, shape & color. One site I found called a similar finish “tea stained”. As a big time tea drinker, I loved that.

I am hoping that my kids do not discover that this piece opens as I’m sure their hide & seek games will send them right through the bottom of it! My handy DH is working on building a back that will hold our TV and a shelf for some extra goodies.

Yes, this is my 3rd cat, Shelly, whom you hardly ever catch a glimpse of as she normally hides from those orange tiger-striped boys, Ollie & Owen.

Oh, you fluffer-nutters.

…the affair of a fair

I’m not exactly a stranger to showing at a fair. Before my beautiful babies were born, I was a potter. cbpottery.

Here I am in my hole in the wall in the basement with my wheel and a kiln.

I fired my own pieces.

I experimented with all kinds of clays.

I mixed my own glazes. This celedon was my very favorite.

And I showed at a few fairs. This was my first.

I will not be using the same tent for the Luckett’s Spring Market as it went down with the last house we built, but I ordered new one with sides in case it rains. Apparently, it always rains.

My DH secured the UHaul. I’m taking inventory and admittedly trying to calm my nerves.

Come see me in the “Field of Gold”. I will have lots of new pieces to show if I can fit them in the truck, which my DH still thinks he’s driving out there. Ha!
